  1. Sit comfortably with your spine straight.
  2. Place your right thumb over your right nostril and inhale deeply through your left nostril.
  3. Close your left nostril with your right ring finger, release your right nostril, and exhale.

3. Breath Retention

Breath retention, also known as kumbhaka in yoga, involves holding the breath for a period of time. This practice can increase lung capacity and improve mental clarity. Start with short holds and gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable.

4. Resonant Breathing

Resonant breathing involves breathing at a specific rate that matches your body's natural rhythms, typically around 5 breaths per minute. This technique has been shown to reduce stress and improve heart rate variability.

5. Coherent Breathing

Coherent breathing focuses on breathing at a rate of 6 breaths per minute, with equal inhalation and exhalation times. This practice can help synchronize your heart, mind, and emotions, promoting a state of coherence and balance.

Remember, breathing techniques can have a profound impact on your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Practice these advanced techniques regularly to experience their full benefits. Stay tuned for more in our series on mastering your breath!
